“I love Max’s weird sad beautiful little newsletter about bonsai trees so much and honestly so would you” – Helen Rosner, staff writer at The New Yorker
Fire Escape Bonsai is a desktop publishing venture by writer and plant killer Max Falkowitz. What began as a quarantine hobby has turned into full blown fire hazard on my Queens fire escape. This newsletter documents my hijinks with that urban bonsai garden, and broader thoughts about the practice of bonsai, from the perspective of a beginner’s mind.
Dispatches are sent Friday mornings. Fire Escape Bonsai is and will be a free project, though tips are genuine way to support this work.
